The Passover Convergence

Wed, 08 Apr 2009

This 24-hour period should erase all doubts about God's existence and plans.

I should've written this column several days ago, as some of the final information was sent to me this past weekend.

But, perhaps it was not God's will that people be given too much time to ponder the information. Perhaps the sudden arrival at one's informational doorstep will provide the jolt needed to get society's attention....

The Passover holy day that begins at sunset on Thursday, 09 Apr 2009, will contain a convergence of events "of Biblical proportions" that should erase all doubts about God's existence and plans.

This Passover contains alignments that might be unprecedented in all of human history. For sure, the Jewish commemoration that begins tomorrow evening at sunset will be in the top four percent of all such holidays. How can I be sure? And, what is the significance to Jews, Christians, and even non-believers? Read on.

For starters, this Passover begins at sunset on Thursday of the Christian Holy Week. For those that are not familiar with what Holy Thursday represents, the evening meal that Jesus celebrated as the Last Supper with the twelve disciples, thus beginning the tradition of Holy Communion, was held on the Thursday of the last week that Jesus lived an earthly life in Jerusalem. So, this year, most Jews will sit down for their Passover seder (holy meal) at the exact same time (sunset on Thursday) when most Christians will celebrate the institution of the sacrament of Holy Communion.

The meaning goes far deeper, as explained in the book Christ in the Passover by Moishe Rosen, the founder of Jews for Jesus. The parallels are even more obvious to those Christians that come from a liturgical (formal worship) tradition (e.g.: Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Anglican). It is almost impossible for a Christian not to see the Passover parallels if one has truly experienced the Divine Liturgy in its fullness. After all, Jesus and all of his early follwers were Israelites that worshipped routinely in the Temple in Jerusalem. And, for the Christian believer, Jesus is the fulfillment of the "Passover lamb". (You can learn more about the parallels, and the meaning of the words used, by reading "'Passion' for Proper Names".)

But, wait, there's more.

This year's particular celebration of Passover also contains a rare Jewish ceremony called "The Blessing of the Sun". According to scholars of the Hebrew calendar, the sun will be in the exact same spot in the universe as it was on the day that God created it. This astronomical event only happens once every 28 years. It comes in years on the Hebrew calendar that are divided by 28, "plus one". (Why? Because there was no Year Zero! The Hebrew calendar claims to date all the way back to the Creation event. Thus, the first year was Year One.) Not only that, but Hebrew scholar and author Kadosh Elyon has written that this particluar Blessing of the Sun ceremony will be the last one!

But, wait, there's more.

According to the writings of Elyon, there have only been three times in the nearly-six-thousand-year history of mankind when the Birchat HaChama (Hebrew for "The Blessing of the Sun") falls on this particular date on the Hebrew calendar (the 14th of Nisan). The first -- and the last, according to Elyon's observation -- are on the eve of Passover. Interestingly, not only is Jesus called the "Passover lamb", but one of His other titles is "the First and the Last".

Let's recap before moving on. At the exact same time, Jews and Christians will be celebrating the exact same event (the original commemorating event of their holiest religious meal) at a time when the Sun is in the exact same place as it was during the Creation event. And, for both of these major religions, the date coincides with the phrase "the first and the last". Mere coincidence??

But, wait, there's more.

There are 28 days in the lunar cycle, and there are 28 years in the Hebrew cycle of the blessing of the sun. Twenty-eight is four times seven. There are four Gospels, and there are seven days in the Creation story. The average menstrual cycle is also 28 days, and coincides with the lunar cycle. This year's Birchat HaChama will be the 206th time in the history of mankind that such a ceremony will be performed. Scientists have concluded that, without any type of birth control, a woman will conceive a child once in just more than every 200 times that she has sex with a man. Jesus said that the events leading up to His return would be "the beginning of birth pangs". Mere coincidence??

But, wait, there's more.

Some people believe (wrongly) that the Muslims worship the same God as do the Jews and the Christians. They do not. If they did, then they would call him by the same name. They do not. As my second book, Tribulation: 2008 explains in detail, it is impossible for the god of the Muslims to be the same. Why does this matter in relation to The Passover Convergence? Read on.

Two days ago, speaking before the Turkish Parliament, Barack Obama (whose name means 'crooked') specifically stated that the United States 'is not and will never be at war with Islam'. (Scroll about three-fourths of the way down the White House page of the complete speech text.) Well, perhaps our country is not at war with Islam, but Islam is definitely at war with the United States. And, why do they refer to us as "the great Satan"? (That term was coined by the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, leader of the Islamic Revolution that deposed the Shah of Iran in 1979. He also coined the term "the little Satan" to describe Israel. Does this sound like a religious leader that worships the same god as do the Jews and the Christians?) By making those remarks, and others, it seems that Mr. Obama is essentially surrendering (or "submitting") our country to Islam. Remember that, in the Arabic language, "Islam" means "submission". Now, if the United States -- a country specifically founded upon Christian principles -- has now surrendered to Islam, and if this event takes place just prior to The Passover Convergence, won't that fact add to the event's intensity? The Holy Bible has several passages that describe God's anger when a country dedicated to Him later turns its back upon Him.

But, wait, there's more.

Jewish writer Hillel ben David notes that this year, 5769 on the Hebrew calendar, is the eighth year after the Shmita (Hebrew for "release", and ofter translated as the "Sabbatical year"). In the system of Hebrew numerology, eight is the number of the Messiah. Jesus spent the final eight days of His earthly life in Jerusalem. Thus, it is likely that this particular Passover will reveal some specific events that will show that Jesus (English for the Hebrew name Yeshua) truly is the Messiah of Israel. Thus, the relationship between the Jews and the Christians, but exclusive of the Muslims, must be shown by events with Biblical significance. What type of events? Read on.

The entire premise of Tribulation: 2008 is that the seven-year Tribulation period described in the Holy Bible has already begun. The book goes into significant detail to describe how certain key historical events are linked to specific heavenly events described in the prophectic passages of the Bible. There is a direct link between the timing of the trumpets blown in Revelation 8 and the timing of events here on Earth. The book presents facts indicating that the first of the seven trumpets blew in Heaven at the exact same time as the start of last year's Hebrew Feast of Trumpets (29 September 2008). It is no accident that the first of seven trumpets blew at the same time that the shofar (Hebrew for "trumpet made from a ram's horn") when the New Moon rose over Jerusalem to start the festival.

But, wait, there's more.

According to my book, the seven trumpets will all blow during the first half of The Tribulation, the seven-year period of persecution against Christians. The Tribulation features an increasing severity as time goes on. With the sounding of each of the seven trumpets, events occur that become more severe. In the original Greek language of the Book of Revelation, the event that "follows" the blowing of the first trumpet takes place over a prolonged period of time. (I explain this phenomenon in several columns, including this one.) According to my understanding of the Bible, the second trumpet will blow in Heaven at the exact same time as the shofar is blown in Jerusalem to mark the beginning of the Passover celebration. This seems to follow the Hebrew cycle in approximately six-month intervals, which "just happen" to match the three-and-one-half-year period that the Biblical books of Daniel and Revelation use to describe the first half of The Tribulation. And, that "just happens" to match the three-and-one-half-year cycle of Torah readings related to the Shmita cycle. Mere coincidence??

Scoffers try to assert that no one can read Bible prophecy with pinpoint accuracy. As their "support", they cite the verse in which Jesus says, "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only." (Matthew 24:36) The scoffers ignore the fact, however, that Jesus was only referring to the specific time of His return. The Bible assures us that we will not be overtaken by surprise when the Day of the Lord comes. (1st Thessalonians 5:4-5) The scoffers confuse "The Rapture" (the bodily ascent of Christian believers up to Heaven) with return of Jesus to end the Battle of Armageddon. Those are two separate events. I discuss this in more detail (and answer audience questions) in my Bible-prophecy conference called "TribCon One". (If the leaders of your church are not already hosting one of these conferences, then you should ask them why.)

Recently, there has been a volcanic eruption and a series in deadly earthquakes in various places worldwide. This pattern is, in my opinion, only a precursor to the real event tied to the blowing of the second trumpet. That event is described in Revelation 8:8-9, in which "something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea". That, in turn, caused a scenario in which "a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed". If a large seismic event were to trigger a landslide of a coastal mountain (exactly that scenario was described in a recent History Channel documentary), then the result would be a mega-tsunami that would fulfill the above Bible prophecy. My book goes into detail about the undersea ridges and trenches that would funnel such a tsunami toward a specific location, which is described as "Babylon" in the Book of Revelation. That location is Manhattan Island, home of the United Nations. (This matches, by the way, the recent vision of Pastor David Wilkerson.)

What are the chances that seismic events could line up to trigger such an event at the exact same time that the trumpets are blown in Heaven and in Jerusalem to mark the beginning of the Passover? The answer could surprise you. Retired geologist Jim Berkland has discovered a formula for predicting earthquakes. His formula is based upon syzygy, and its gravitational effect upon underground water. Just as the Moon has a "lunar pull" effect upon the tides in oceans and large lakes, Mr. Berkland believes that similar forces produce underground water pressure that can trigger earthquakes. What does syzygy have to do with Bible prophecy and the Hebrew calendar? Read on.

Keep in mind that, according to Jewish tradition, the calendar day actually begins at sunset. So, the 15th of Nisan (Passover) begins at sunset on the 9th of April on the Gregorian (Western civil) calendar. Because the Hebrew calendar is on a lunar cycle, the 1st of Nisan is always on a new moon. Thus, the beginning of the Passover celebration (15th of Nisan) is always on an evening when the moon is full. A full moon is one of the most likely predictors of earthquake activity. So, an earthquake is likely during the Passover period from sunset on Thursday evening until sunset on Friday evening.

But, wait, there's more.

The "lunar pull" effect is greatly enhanced if there is also an asteroid in proximity to Earth at the time of the full moon. As I have shown previously, God has used asteroids to mark specific events and to trigger other events. (And, I believe that a specific future event will be caused by an asteroid.) Well... it "just so happens" that there will be not one but three asteroids in close proximity to Earth on the 10th of April (which begins at midnight, while the 15th of Nisan begins at sunset, thus providing several hours of overlap during the proper timeframe) while the moon is full.

So, it is far more likely that a major seismic event will occur during this time frame than on other days. And, that major seismic event could trigger precisely the type of tsunami predicted in Revelation 8:8-9. So, what are the chances that the Hebrew and Christian calendars will align themselves together like this on a specific date? And, what are the chances that the Hebrew and Christian prophecies would also match up with likely world events? (The Hebrews regard such things as evidence of Geulah -- the unfolding of God's plan of redemption.) And, what are the chances that all of these events will line up in the exact same place and at the exact same time??

Now you understand the significance of The Passover Convergence.
